The drawing project
So, here's the deal. With tuition and living cost for attending this awesome school in NY coming to more than $53,000.00 for ONE YEAR, I'm going to need more than my summer job (and more than a few scholarships, student loans and help from my awesome family) to actually be able to make this work. So, I'm trying something a little bit different.
When my mum heard the news that i got accepted into the New York Academy of Art she joked that since I was on my way to being a famous artist she should start selling some of my scribbles from when I was a kid to start making money for tuition. Mum's are awesome right? this got me thinking that while my kid drawings probably aren't much to look at for anyone who didn't pack me around nine months in their belly, I am still making scribbles in my notebooks almost constantly. usually based on my daily life and whats happening around me my collection of sketchbooks gives s pretty good look at what's going on in my life at the time.Room mates, people on the bus, coffee shops, the groundwork for future projects, ...they all go into my sketch book.
One of the coolest projects that i know about is the Sketchbook project from Art house. Sketchbooks are collected from all over the world and mailed in to one location in Brooklyn to be exhibited in a public exhibition. This project is basically the opposite. For the next two years I'm going to be drawing a tonn as usual, first starting at home here in Canada getting ready to go, then while I'm in New York. At the end of each month I am going to rip out all of the drawings in my sketch book and mail them people around the world! each page is an original drawing, coffee stains and sweat included (not a print). Each one titled and dated so you have an idea of when and where/what to give you an idea of what I'm up to. Pages will go into blank envelopes first, get sealed up then I'lll slap the addresses on them and send em off not knowing who is getting what drawing. In addition to the drawing, the money that it costs to get a drawing will also go towards giving me the time and nutrition necessary to update a blog in addition to the drawings, letting you on the things that I'm up to .
So, you want a drawing right? So here's how this works. To get on the list to receive a drawing each month and follow me around NY is $3 (Canadian) each month. use the button below and pay pall will take out $3 each month. You'll go on my list and you get a drawing each month, simple as that.
